I am really excited about this, so bear with me as I hyperventilate slightly!
Doctor Who is returning on March 30! It was announced on the BBC America website today, and it makes Spring my new favorite season since Game of Thrones is also returning in April! The Doctor Who Christmas special definitely left me wanting more, I am very curious as to the future of Clara. I am still working on some theories myself, but if previous surprises are any clue then I am probably way off. That is part of what I love so much about the show!
The teaser for the premiere is on the BBC website, but this saves you some clicking: Teaser Trailer.
In addition, Neil Gaiman is writing for Doctor Who again (this may have already been mentioned, but I am still excited)! The Doctor’s Wife was one of my favorite episodes of that season so I look forward to another one by Mr. Gaiman.
Bonus!
Speaking of authors reminds me of books! I am not sure how I missed this the first time around, but there are small eBooks coming out about each of the Eleven doctors! Naturally, I plan on devouring each and every one of them. I encourage you to do the same!

I still have not watched Dr. Who. I like watching things chronologically according to the story, but with Dr. Who, that’s impossible because the earliest episodes are gone. Any suggestions as to which season/Doctor I should start with that will get me into the loop and not be left totally confused?

Yes! The series revamp in 2005 is a great place to start since they refresh a lot of stuff and you get some backstory as it goes along anyway. (Plus with Doctor Who there is no real chronology as stories intertwine with the whole time/space thing.)They call it season 1, and it stars Christopher Eccleston as the ninth doctor. It starts out a little cheesy for some people’s tastes but stick with it! It is totally worth it. The Empty Child is my favorite from season 1, but it is like episode 9. And then make sure you watch the Christmas specials or other specials that are sometimes in between seasons. There are a few with David Tennant between season 4 and season 5, and then Matt Smith is in a Christmas special for each of his seasons so far.
If you have Netflix, that is the best way to go as they have almost all of the episodes and the specials (they are missing one David Tennant special (Planet of the Dead I think). Netflix also has some of the older stuff on streaming, including stuff all the way back to the first doctor (William Hartnell) if you want to check it out, but there are still things missing.
So to make that very long story short, 2005 season 1 with the ninth doctor is my suggestion :-)
